I am what I am.
I don’t need the world to define me
A daughter to parents who are the epitome of sacrifice.
Parents who stood and still believe in standing like rocks behind their kids.
I am what I am
I don’t want society to dictate me.
A wife of a man who believes and is an excellent example of perseverance.
A man who stands by his word and knows the value of silence.
I am who am I am
Even though I love him with all my heart. His love changed me, taught me the value of patience over-eagerness, and forgiveness over hate.
But why should my patience and love be mistaken for arrogance?
I am what I am
And I don’t want people to judge our relation.
We’ve been together for nearly 10 years.
So why don’t you just give us a break?
A mother to four wonderful children who I believe is an Amanah from my lord.
Help me in raising them to be an asset to our religion and not ones to be pleasing to society.
I am what I am.
Doesn’t mean I am right in everything I do
Doesn’t mean I wouldn’t acknowledge my mistake.
I am a human bound to make mistakes and so are you.
I can never be perfect but doesn’t give anyone a license to break or nibble away my confidence.
I should have done this long before.
Should have thrown the cloak of camouflage for that’s not who I am.
As I stand in front of the mirror I see myself as a daughter, a mother, a wife, a writer, and much more.
I can't let those negative words describe me.
Lazy, Selfish, Arrogant.
I crash them today to be the best in things I truly am.
I rise like a phoenix from all the negative ashes today and cru out loud!!!!
